What You Should be Doing on Social Media Weekly

You’ve seen our daily to-do’s for organic social growth, but what about what you should be doing on a weekly basis?

When we say constant action is required to grow on social media, we mean it — it’s not just daily action, it’s weekly, monthly (stay tuned for this blog post coming soon!), and yes, even yearly action.

If you’re wondering why it feels like you always have to be on top of social media it’s because this is an ever and always evolving industry. New features come into play, old features get exciting updates, and it pays to be in the know and at the forefront of it all!

So, what should you be doing weekly on social media to keep that growth trending upward?

Show up on video

We know it’s not everyone’s favorite thing to do — video can feel a little awkward, and a little vulnerable — but right now, social media platforms from Instagram to LinkedIn are valuing video content much higher than still graphics and photos.

Our suggestion would be to pick one day per week to show up on video however you prefer: IG Reels, IGTV, IG Live. Right now, we’d say that IG Reels is the hottest form of content, and the most loved by Instagram’s algorithm, so consider experimenting with that first!

An added bonus of video content: It will likely keep your followers on your content longer than a simple post and caption would, AND it helps your audience get to know you in a new way! There’s a personal element to video that just can’t be delivered in standard, static posts.

Stay in the know of industry news

Make it a priority, at least once a week, to check out some social media related headlines.

This will keep you in the know of any new features that are launching, or any features/platforms that industry experts are saying aren’t worth your time and effort (looking at you, Snapchat).

These are a few blogs that  we love to check out for industry-related news: Gary Vaynerchuk’s Blog (obviously!), Hootsuite, Planoly,

Engage with your followers’ content

If you’re not spending at least 30 minutes ONE day a week engaging with your followers’ content you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to see an engagement boost on your own content!

Why? When it comes to social media, you get what you give — especially in terms of content engagement.

Here’s what you should do: Set a timer for 30 minutes once or twice per week, and start engaging with your followers' content. Leave comments, send them DMs to start a conversation, share some of your favorite posts to your IG Stories.

The more you engage with them, the more they'll engage with you!

Do you have anything you’d add to this weekly to-do list? We’d love to hear your tips, too!
